Live better, work better
Well planned and congestion-free cities of Rajasthan have strong urban infrastructure with wide roads, parks, clean drinking water and other civic facilities.
The Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) is being implemented in the State by the Central Government to enhance the basic infrastructure facilities in urban areas of Rajasthan. Under JNNURM, 12 projects have been sanctioned for the cities of Jaipur, Ajmer and Pushkar.
The Government of Rajasthan (GoR) initiated Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP) with the loan assistance from Asian Development Bank (ADB), to provide integrated quality infrastructural facilities in six divisional headquarters of the State and with further requirement, it was extended to 15 more towns under RUIDP Phase-II Rajasthan Urban Sector Development & Investment Programme (RUSDIP). The GoR formed RUIDP and entrusted the work of the infrastructure development in the urban cities. The key areas of development under this project are water supply, sewerage, drainage, roads and solid-waste management.
The Government of Rajasthan (GoR) is also undertaking the development of a Metro Rail Urban Transport Project in Jaipur.
The cities have excellent educational institutions including public and convent schools affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and IB boards. Many of them like MGD Girls School, St. Xavier's and The Mayo College are institutions of national repute. In addition to this, undergraduate & postgraduate colleges and technical colleges offer a variety of traditional and new age courses. IIT Jodhpur, IIM Udaipur, BITS Pilani, Raffles University Alwar, NIFT Jodhpur are few examples.
In elementary education, there are 54,758 Primary Schools, 38,803 Upper Primary Schools and 25,990 Secondary/Senior Secondary schools.
Modern healthcare facilities are available across the State. Cities and towns now have a number of speciality and super speciality hospitals like Fortis, Narayana Hrudalaya, Eternal Heart Care Centre (EHCC) and Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Hospital.
A number of initiatives are being taken up to improve the healthcare facilities of the State.
Utility & Recreation
Private & public sector banks, supermarkets, brand stores, departmental stores and shopping malls are commonplace. Cities in Rajasthan offer a variety of recreation options with multiplexes, restaurants, cafes, theatres, art galleries, health centres, spas, clubs, pubs and discotheques.
The cosmopolitan cities of Rajasthan offer an exciting blend of rich culture and modern comforts for a happy and safe living. Many cultural centres in Rajasthan like Jawahar Kala Kendra and Radha Krishan Cultural and Convention Center in Jaipur, Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal and Meera Kala Mandir in Udaipur, and Desert Cultural Centre in Jaisalmer bring the State alive with theatre, exhibitions of modern and ethnic art and so on.
Cricket, polo, golf and aero-sports such as parasailing, paragliding are the popular sports in Rajasthan. Rajasthan also offers various adventure activities including camel safari, horse safari, jeep safari and elephant safari.
