Singapore Prime Minister Visits Rajasthan To Give a Fillip To Wide-Ranging Cooperation

Udaipur, October 6: With an aim to jointly market Rajasthan as a global tourist destination and provide advanced urban solutions, the Governments of Rajasthan and Singapore signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) here today in the presence of the Prime Minister of Singapore, H.E. Mr. Lee Hsien Loong. The signing of MoUs was witnessed by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje and Minister for Industry of Singapore, H.E. Mr. S. Iswaran.

The MoU on tourism between Rajasthan and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) was signed by the Rajasthan Tourism Secretary, Smt. Roli Singh, and the CEO of SCE, Mr. Kong Wy Mun. The programme covered under the agreement will be co-funded by The Temasek Foundation of the Singapore Government.

This agreement will aggregate Singapore’s expertise through tripartite collaboration between the government, tourism institutions and industry partners to strengthen Rajasthan’s knowledge capabilities. Rajasthan is also seeking to utilise Singapore’s public and private sector proficiency in the development of tourism in Jaipur.

The second MoU, between International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and Rajasthan was signed by the State Principal Secretary, Urban Development & Housing, Shri Mukesh Kumar Sharma, and the IE Assistant CEO, Mr. Tan Soon Kim.

The agreement focuses on enhancing Rajasthan’s international appeal and connectivity, facilitation of private sector participation to rejuvenate the state’s heritage areas and critical urban and smart solutions. Singapore will also share expertise in areas like inter-modal transport integration, waste management solutions, and affordable wireless connection.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister, Smt. Vasundhara Raje tweeted, “Rajasthan's collaborations with Singapore in tourism, urban solutions & capacity building shall drive our growth story to infinite skies.”

Later, in the presence of the Singapore Prime Minister, the Centre of Excellence for Tourism Training (CETT) was inaugurated in Udaipur by Smt. Raje, acting Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Senior Minister of State for Defence, Singapore, Mr. Ong Ye Kung; and the Rajasthan Minister for Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Shri Surendra Pal Singh. This centre has been established by the Department of Skills, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Government of Rajasthan in collaboration with the ITE Education Services (ITEES), Singapore. It will provide skill and vocational training in services related to travel and tourism.

“CETT is the fruit of the dynamic cooperation between our two governments. It will help us achieve unprecedented excellence in the field of vocational training in tourism, an important engine for job creation in Rajasthan,” Chief Minister Raje opined.
